Arthur George Mudge was born on 13th June 1880 at Ferndale. A wheelwright, married in 1903 to Ruby Florence Moore, born 8th January 1884, daughter of George Moore and Janet Smith. Ruby and Arthur separated when Arthur moved north with brothers. A carrier for George Reading, and storekeeper at Bangalow. Served in Egypt and France in World War I. Wounded in action 1917, a prisoner of war 1918 in Germany for three years. Employed as farm labourer on brother's farm 1922-1949. Arthur died 5th March 1955 and is buried at the Murwillumbah Cemetery.
