PTE Albert Edward Winters (variably written Winter) was a labourer from Victoria would enlisted at the start of the war .
In Egypt, he developed a severe and chronic mastoid abscess that necessitated his transfer back to Australia about HMAT Kyarra. He was discharged in the 3rd Military District in January 1916.
He was nonetheless keen to service and re-enlisted for home service later than same year. He was soon discharged again as medically unfit.
In late 1919 he re-enlisted yet again and served until August 1921 in 11th Australian General Hospital.
