Louis's parents were James Arscott and Lydia Elizabeth Ann Hooper. Louis enlisted 30 December 1914, Queensland. He married Jane Gilliland in 1915, the daughter of John and Emma Gilliland of Samsonvale. After the war Louis was working in the Samsonvale area as a farm labourer.
