George McCrimmon was born in Romsey, Victoria, the son of Hector and Mary Anne McCrimmon.

He was working as a farm hand when he enlisted on 23/9/1914. After training he left Australia on 22/12/1914 aboard the HMAT Berrima as part of the 15th Battalion.

The Battalion landed at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 and were constanrly in action.

On 9 May 1915 George was killed while fighting in the Quinns Post area.

He has no known grave and is remembered on the Lone Pine Memorial at Gallipoli.
