| 25 May 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, At Buire near Albert on 19th May 1918 and during the night of 19/20th his stretcher-bearing was magnificent. Continuous shelling developing at times to intense barrage failed to deter this splendid soldier from continuing his work. Many stretcher-bearers becoming casualties, he carried on and when his last carrying partner was wounded on a return trip he carried him on his back to the Aid Post and continued to bring in wounded until his services wore no longer required, | |

Son of Edward Olsen and Bergitte of Sarpsborg, Norway.
Arrived in Australia from Norway on 28 February 1911 aboard the Isabell Brown disembarking at Melbourne. Swore his Oath of Allegience on 29 August 1916 when he was residing at William Street, West Melbourne, Victoria and giving his occupation as seaman.
Next of kin given as Emily Poole of Capel Street, West Melbourne, Victoria. Einar and Emily later married during 1938 in Victoria
Commenced return to Australia on 4 December 1918 aboard HT Somerset disembarking on 15 January 1919
