War Service/Promotions:   Promoted to Captain on 20 May 1918. After arriving in Liverpool, England, Dr. Lindeman was Taken on Strength in the A.I.F. on 11 August 1918, and marched in to No 3 Command Depot at Fovant, Wiltshire, England. He was attached to No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, France on 27 September 1918. He was granted leave to Paris between 26 November 1918 and 3 December 1918. Detached to 39th General Hospital on 2 January 1919, and marched out to duty on same day. Granted leave for 2 days on 13 January 1919, and then transferred to No 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital for duty. He resigned his Commission in His Majesty's Australian Imperial Force at his own request, in order to attend to family business in London (Cawarra Wines). He was granted a release in England on 3 March 1919. Mrs. Lindeman and son Grant joined him and they returned to Australia in 1921.

Fate:   He married (1) Irene Wilkinson, 1 December 1913, Cessnock, NSW. They divorced. He married (2) Constance Anne Chancellor, 13 September 1938, St Stephen's Church, Macquarie Street, Sydney, NSW.
