57 years ago today, on the 30th August 1962, Private Edward Frederick Barrett, 35th Battalion, labourer (Steel Works), of "Willyama", Hampden Avenue, Adamstown, New South Wales, was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 74. METHODIST 4-08. 12.
Born at Broken Hill, New South Wales on the 28th March 1888 to Edward Francis and Sarah Jane Barrett; husband of Elsie Jane Barrett nee Morgan (married 1927, died 1947), Edward enlisted April 1916 at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Edward’s name has been inscribed on the Adamstown Citizens' Memorial, Adamstown Methodist Church Honour Roll (photo, unveiled on the 31st October 1915) and The Capt. Clarence Smith Jeffries (V.C.) and Pte. William Matthew Currey (V.C.) Memorial Wall.
I have placed poppies at Edward’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King and Country.
