Mitchell was born as Michael Casper ACHILLES on 15th December 1896 in Toowoomba, Queensland
His parents were Jacob ACHILLES and Mary KLEIN
He enlisted on 14th Jan. 1918 with the Australian Flying Corp. which embarked Melbourne on 28th Feb. 1918 on HMAT Nestor - he returned to Australia on 6th May, 1919 - Rank Air Mechanic 2nd Class
He married Elsie Mary Elizabeth HORN in 1919 in Queensland
He also served in WW2
Using his birth name of Michael Casper ACHILLES he enlisted in the Australian Army on 9th May, 1941 - Rank: Sapper Service No. Q90147 - he was discharged on 26th Nov. 1941 - posting at discharge- 112 Australian General Hospital
Michael died on 7th June, 1947 in Miles, Queensland
