Died on this date – 17th November.....Trooper Lambert Adrian Guest was born at Narrabri, New South Wales in 1883. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 7th December, 1914 as a 31 year old Carpenter from Narrabri.
Trooper Lambert Adrian Guest embarked from Sydney, NSW on HMAT Chilka (A51) on 7th June, 1915 with the 2nd Light Horse Brigade, 7th Light Horse Regiment, 7th Reinforcements. He joined 7th Light Horse Regiment at Gallipoli Peninsula on 2nd October, 1915.
[The Light Horse were considered unsuitable for the initial operations at Gallipoli, but were subsequently deployed without their horses to reinforce the infantry. (extract from Australian War Memorial]
Trooper Lambert Adrian Guest was wounded on 8th October, 1915 at Gallipoli Peninsula & his condition was serious. He was transferred to Malta with gunshot wounds to spine – serious then invalided to England on Hospital Ship Oxfordshire.
Trooper Guest was pronounced out of danger on 26th October, 1915 & was admitted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, Hampshire, England on 30th October, 1915 with gunshot wounds to spine (11th Dorsal) & Paraplegia.
Trooper Lambert Adrian Guest died on 17th November, 1915 at Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, Hampshire, England from wounds received in action – shrapnel wounds to spine. He was buried in Netley Military Cemetery, Hampshire, England where 49 other WW1 Australian War Graves are located.
