Frank Denton Claxton was born to agriculture worker, William David Hambridge and Augusta Vivian Moyle on August 28th in 1884 on Arthur Street, located in North Adelaide. His previous occupation before enlisting was a farmer working in the agriculture industry.

Frank enlisted  4th of January in 1915 at the age of thirty years and four months. On the 23rd of June 1915, Frank boarded the HMAT Borda for Egypt. He was taken on strength with the 15th Field Ambulance 23rd March 1916. May 6th he was promoted to Segeant Steward and the following month proceeded to France arriving in Marseilles 28th June 1916 where he served for the remainder of the war

Frank returned home to Australia in 1919 on the 10th April 1919. He disembarked in Adelaide 13th May 1919 and was discharged 13th July 1919.

On the 23rd of April 1921, Frank married to Madge Lai-Lai of Cadell in Brougham Place Congregational Church of North Adelaide, leading to the births of his two daughters: Rhodanthe Grace and Lindsay Grahame Claxton. Nineteen years after his marriage, on the 14th of September in 1940, he fell ill and was transported to North Adelaide Hospital where he died aged fifty-six. He was buried a day later on the 15th of September in West Terrace Cemetery.
