Son of Jonathon and Sarah Hodge.  Henry was educated at Tinor, and worked as a miner.  He enlisted in Melbourne in February 1915 and left Australian on 4 June 1915.  He saw service in Egypt, Gallipoli for four months until the evacuation and France at Armetieres, Pozieres and Ypres.  He was then invalided to England.
