Mervyn Dennis LANDRIGAN was born in 1897 in Palmers Island, Clarence River, NSW - also listed as Mervin in some records
His parents were Dennis William LANDRIGAN and Sarah Marie GILLESPIE who married in 1896 in that area
He enlisted in Lismore on 5th January, 1916 and embarked with the 31st Infantry Battalion, 6th reinforcements on the HMAT Ceramic on 14th April, 1916
He left Australia for Egypt and later went to France for service on the Western Front in July, 1916.
He was wounded by German artillery fire whilst the battalion was moving into the front line trenches to relieve the 58th Battalion at Bouzencourt, France.
Mervyn died of wounds received in action in the field in France on 10th April, 1918 and is buried in Villers Bretonneux Military Cemetery - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
