Leonard Chase was enlisted on the forth of the sixteenth 1916 into the 32nd Infantry Battalion. His service number was 2581. Before the war Leonard Chase was a salesman.
 
On the sixth of the first 1895 in Prospect, Adelaide, SA, on the 6 of January 1895 Leonard was born to Lucy Chase and on the first of September 1918 in Carlisle, England, United Kingdom he past away due to illness at age 24.

Died on this date - 1st September.......Leonard Chase was born at Prospect, South Australia in 1895.

He enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 4th January, 1916 as a 23 year old Salesman. He arrived in England for further training on 16th June, 1916 & was promoted to Corporal.


Corporal Chase joined 32nd Battalion at the War Front on 19th July, 1917. He was hospitalised twice (bruised back then a septic left knee) & invalided to England with Trench Fever.

He was posted as permanent staff at Training Camp at Hurdcott, Wiltshire, England on 1st February 1918.


Corporal Leonard Chase was reported to be dangerously ill with paraplegia on 3rd July, 1918 at Fusehill War Hospital (Newtown Section), Carlisle, England.

He died at 1.10 pm on 1st September, 1918 & was buried in Dalston Road Cemetery, Carlisle, Cumberland, England.
