Roy Garside CULPAN was born in Wanganui, New Zealand on 8th January, 1883

His parents were Thomas CULPAN & Alice Laura Marian KNIGHT

He married Eva KIRK in New Zealand in 1908 - one child Joan Lascelles CULPAN - his wife & child stayed in New Zealand

He had served previously in the Auckland College Rifles in New Zealand before he came to Australia as a Commercial Traveller and enlisted in Kensington, Sydney on 31st August, 1914 and embarked from Sydney on 18th October, 1914 with the 1st Infantry Battalion, E Company on the ship Afric

Roy died of Illness (Pernicious anaemia) in Cairo, Egypt on 14th December, 1914 and is buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery
