Albert John Lightfoot aged 43 years was brought into the Hospital on Wednesday suffering from an injury to the head, by the Ambulance, and he passed away at about midday that day. The late Mr Lightfoot was a well-known Identity of Proserpine, having resided here for a long number of years. He resided in Conway where he was engaged in cane farming.
Bert was a returned soldier of the Great War. For a long time he has not enjoyed good health and only recently returned from Brisbane, where he was under medical attention.
He leaves a widow and 6 children, the ages ranging from 7 to 21 years to mourn their sad loss.
The funeral moved from the Presbyterian church at 2 o’clock on Thursday afternoon. The coffin was draped with the Union Jack. A large number of friends paid their last respects by attending the funeral. In the absence of Rev. Watson, Mr Mazlin read the burial service at the graveside.
