Biography contributed by Evan Evans

Pte Knable was originally "Known unto God" after the brutal Battle of Fromelles and memorialised at V.C. Corner (Panel No 5), Australian Cemetery Memorial, Fromelles, France.  He was identified in a mass grave constructed by the Germans at Pheasant Wood until the mass grave was found by the tenacious Lambis Englezos and Fallen Digger friends both Australian and French.  Marvellous work was then done to ID his remains.

Pte Knable now lies properly recognized and at peace in Pheasant Wood Military Cemetery (Plot II, Row E, Grave No 14), Frmelles, Pas de Calais, France
