Son of Patrick Quailey and  Bridget Quailey of Conway Street, Lismore, NSW.

Brother of Ernest Quailey who to Australia on 5 May 1919 having served with the 5th Pioneer Battalion; Thomas Quailey who died of wounds on 11 August 1918 while serving with the 49th Battalion and was buried Fouilloy Communal Cemetery, Row C, Grave 8; Joseph Quailey who returned to Australia on 6 January 1919 having served with the 38th Battalion.
