Biography

Son of Alexander MCROSTIE and Ella BUCHANAN

"McROSTIE.— On the 11th April, at Melbourne, Kenneth Buchanan, beloved elder son of Alex McRostie, of Millicent, aged 35 years, late 32nd Battalion, A.I.F." - from the Adelaide Advertiser 13 Apr 1934 (nla.gov.au)

"OBITUARY.  MR. KENNETH B. McROSTIE.

The news of the death of Mr. Kenneth B. McRostie, which occurred at Uxbridge Hospital, Fitzroy, Melbourne, on April 11th, will be received with regret in this district, the deceased some years ago being on the staff of the Narracoorte branch of the Union Bank, and during the period of his residence here he made a number of friends. He was born at Millicent 35 years ago, and was tbe elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex. McRostie. He had been in the Uxbridge hospital under treatment for several months. The late Mr. Kenneth McRostie spent his boyhood at Millicent. At the age of 16 years he entered the service of the Union Bank, remaining at the branch there until he was old enough to enlist for active service in the great war. His brief career as a soldier was terminated by a gas attack in France, that caused him to be invalided home, and probably was the first cause of the illness to which he succumbed. On his return to Australia Mr. McRostie resumed his position in Millicent Branch of the Bank, was transferred to Narracoorte, thence to Adelaide, and finally to the head office in Melbourne, where he suffered a break-down in health. His remains were taken to Millicent and were interred there on Saturday last." - from the Narracoorte Herald 20 Apr 1920 (nla.gov.au)
