Son of William John and Harriet Rebecca Nelson of Nambucca, NSW formerly of Clybucca, NSW. Brother of Edith Annie Nelson
Private A. E. Nelson (killed) was the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Nelson, of Clybucca, Macleay River, and was nearly 22 years of age, and unmarrled. At the time of enllstment, he was studying for entrance Into the Education Department, with every prospect of a successful career. He, like all his brothers, was an ardent and clean sportsman. He was continuously in the trenches at Gallipoli from May until he met his death, between August 6 and 9. His eldest brother is serving at Holsworthy Concentration Camp, and his third brother is leaving the Education Department to enlist. The deceased was a general favorite, and the first volunteer from Clybucca. Seven of his friends are about to follow his example.
