Biography

"THE LATE PRIVATE R. H. PARNELL.

Mr. and Mrs. Parnell, of Milang, have been notified that their eldest son, Private Robert H. Parnell, was killed in action on November 26. He was born in Victoria, and had atained the age of 31. He came to Milang with his parents 25 years ago, and enlisted at the end of 1915. Of the 40 young men who self-sacrificingly went forward to represent Milang at the front, Private Parnell is the first to make the supreme sacrifice. Two others have been wounded. Private Parnell was well liked by the residents of Milang, his kindly nature gaining him many friends." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 30 Dec 1916 (nla.gov.au)
