Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Thomas was the sixth of seven children of Robert Alexander Greer (born 1863 in Brisbane, QLD) and Mary Devereux (born 1866 in Ireland). Robert was a Labourer in Brisbane, QLD when he and Mary married in 1885. They raised their family in Brisbane.

Thomas was a Carter in Brisbane, QLD when he enlisted in the AIF in 1916 (stating on his Attestation Form that he was almost 19 years of age) and served as a Private and Driver (Service No:197) with 31 Infantry Battalion A Coy. Hospitalised in Suez, he was found to have 'Dilation of the Heart' (Has always been a delicate youth, and is very short of wind. National Archives Australia). Thomas was Discharged in 1916 and returned to Brisbane where he married Madge Forsyth McGory (born 1896 in Brisbane, QLD) in 1917.

Thomas and Madge settled in Maryborough, QLD where Thomas was working as a Railway Porter when he died in 1920. Madge returned to Brisbane where she remarried and died in 1966.
