Private Frederick William McIntosh (Service No:58381) served with the AIF from June 1918 to January 1919. He was attached to 7th Reinforcements QLD when he embarked from Sydney on board the SS Wyeema in October 1918, only for the ship to be recalled.
Fred was born in Glastonbury near Gympie QLD in 1895, the sixth of twelve children of Alister Meldrum McIntosh (b1861 in Inverness, Scotland) and Margaret Alexander Berry (b1861 in Gympie, QLD). Alister emigrated in 1889, arriving in Brisbane QLD on board the Dunbar Castle. A Farmer in 1888, he and Margaret married in Gympie QLD and settled at Boonara QLD where they raised their family. Following Margaret's death, Alister remarried in 1928.
Fred was a Farmer at Goomeri, QLD, and continued farming following his Discharge. In 1923 he married Elizabeth Pretoria Maudsley (b1923 in Goomeri, QLD) in Murgon and the couple settled in Goomeri, QLD where Fred was Farmer. He died in 1970 and Elizabeth in 1986.
