CD WEARNE

A clerk from St Kilda, Victoria prior to enlistment, Pte CD Wearne embarked with the 19th Reinforcements, 22nd Battalion from Melbourne on HMAT Ascanius on 11 May 1917. He was later gassed while serving France and, following the Armistice, transferred to the War Records Section and was promoted to Sergeant. He returned to Australia on 15 November 1919.
