25 Sep 1916: Wounded AIF WW1, Sergeant, 489, 6th Infantry Battalion, Wounds to the left thigh and arm. Embarked to England on 28 September 1916
4 Oct 1916: Honoured Military Medal, At Pozieres, France, 18/19th August 1916. When advancing against the enemy trenches this N.C.O. went with 2/Lieut Rauert to a unit on our right which was in danger of losing touch with the line, owing to loss of officers and N.C.O.s. He displayed great gallantry and resourcefulness in collecting and re-organising the men, getting them to dig in, and connect up with 6th Battalion. He also attended to the removal of killed and wounded and greatly assisted his officer in a critical situation. London Gazette on 16 November 1916, page 11145, position 115. Son of Charles Edward Vienet and Elizabeth Georgina Bonney formerly Vienet nee Ryniker of Perth Cottage, Ceres, Geelong, Victoria. 

Brother of Gabriel Louis Vienet who died of pneumonia on 24 November 1915 while serving with the Australian Field Artillery and is buried in the Albany(Old) Public Cemetery. Position C.E. Grave 826 and Henry Alexander Vient who returned to Australia on 31 March 1919 having served with the 2nd Australian General Hospital.

In March 1918 Edward was living in Eltham, Kent, England.
