Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Edward had been raised in Ireland and from his Roll of Honour form appears to have come to Australia in about 1912.
Edward arrived on Gallipoli 4 September 1915 with the 28th Battalion, as did his brother 35 Private James Coll of the same Battalion. James was evacuated in three weeks with dysentery and died at sea only 4 days late, aged 24. Edward lasted until 14 October 1915, when he too was evacuated with dysentery and enteric fever. He recovered in time to travel with the 28th Battalion to the Western Front.
Edward died during the very fighting at Pozieres on 29 July 1916. His remains were reinterred during 1923 in the Bouzincourt Ridge Cemetery.
The brothers had both been born in Ramelton, County Donegal, Ireland and their father James was living in Glasgow, Scotland at the time of their deaths.
