Dennis O’Loughlin served at Gallipoli from the 4 September 1915 with the 28th Battalion and was wounded in the arm by shrapnel on 30 September 1915. He was evacuated to Egypt until the evacuation of the Dardenelles. He arrived in France during March 1916 and fought at Pozieres. He transferred to the 7th Light Trench Mortar Battery during October 1916. He was most severely wounded on about the 18 November 1916 and died of wounds over a week later in a general hospital in Rouen, France.
His brother, 2018 Pte. Leonard O’Loughlin 28th Battalion AIF had been listed as missing at Pozieres since the 29 July 1916 (later confirmed killed in action), aged 18.
Their parents were Edmond and Ellen O'Loughlin, who had been living at Mount Lawley in Western Australia. By about 1920 the mother Ellen was living at Naremburn, NSW and the father seemed to doing munitions work in England.
