Add my storyBiography contributed by Harrison Ansell
Francis Lingum Ansell served in the Tropical Corps during WW1, following his brothers Enoch and Albert. Another brother, Charles, was meant to go, but because he was a well respected boxing coach, as well as some family ties, he got to stay home. Francis was listed at 30 yrs, 9 mths (he lied about his age, he was born 1887, not 1884), 5ft 5, blue eyes, brown hair, 108 lbs and to have had a fair complexion. Francis had one child, a daughter, named Doris. Francis was a very good soldier, he fought hard and was promoted multiple times in a short span of time. His brother Enoch was killed upon landing Gallipoli on the 25th of April, 1915, and Albert was lightly wounded. Albert was soon shot and killed instantly on the 8th of May of the same year. Francis eventually got a couple months leave from the army and came home to rent out a house with Doris and her mother Gypsy. Gypsy and Francis departed ways less then 3 weeks after Francis returned, and Doris lived with her mum until Francis came back from WW1. They never officially divorced.
