Toc H Head Visits State
Anticipation of a pleasant stay in the home State of the founder of the movement teas expressed by the Rev. Gilbert William, senior administrative padre of Toc. H. London, when he arrived in Brisbane yesterday.
He said that Foundation Padre P. B. ('Tubby') Clayton, who was born at Maryborough, Queensland, would have been delighted to make the trip, but he was engrossed in the re-erection of his Church of All Hallows, London, which had been wrecked in the blitz. Padre Williams, who arrived in Australia on June 6, intends to stay a month in Queensland. Mr. Williams was welcomed by Mr. J. C. Arkell, honorary area commissioner for Toc-H in Queensland and Mr. Gerwyn Jones, the Queensland secretary. He will be the guest of Archbishop of Halse while in Brisbane. Yesterday afternoon he paid a call on the Lieut.-Governor (Mr. Cooper). After visiting country areas, he will be the principal speaker at the anniversary festivities on September 28 and 29.
