Returned to Australia in late 1918 due to a gunshot wound to his left shoulder and back.
His brothers, 3359 Pte William Samuel Elliott 52nd Battalion AIF, killed in action 24 April 1918, age 34 and 5824 Pte John Henry Elliott also 25th Battalion AIF, died of wounds, 11 June 1918, age 32.
