William Joesph Barry served with the 27th Battalion; his regimental number was 6790. William was born in Port Pirie; South Australia and he was brought up as a Roman Catholic. Before enlisting to serve he worked as a labourer. William was 22 years of age when he decided to join the army.
The place that William enlisted in was Adelaide, South Australia and he enrolled on the 9th of October 1915. Before deployment, he had to do lots of training and preparation to ensure that he was able to do his best on the battlefield.
William Barry was unfortunately shot in the knee on 11/6/1918 and was then admitted to the hospital the next day.
William Joseph Barry returned to Australia on the 18th of December 1919.
