Alexander Robert Smart McDuff had multiple enlistment forms. His original number was 808, but this was changed to 901. Repatriated, he enlisted with the Military Police, but was discharged for drunkenness shortly later. He then served briefly with the 5th District Guard, #W15639, then with the Number 3 Railway Guard. He was accidently killed while crossing the railway line at West Midland Railway station (while AWL and under the influence). An enquiry deemed the death accidental, and he was buried with full military honours.
