IT IS HARD TO SAY THY WILL BE DONE IT IS HARD TO SAY ADIEU MOTHER
Sergeant-Farrier WILLIAM SALISBURY WHITBREAD, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitbread, of Kadina, died on November 9 of wounds received in action in Palestine. He was born in Kadina, and was 29 years old in October. After serving his time as blacksmith with his father he went to Victoria, about five, years ago, and then took a Position on a sugar plantation in North Queensland. He was a member of the Kadina Town Band. He enlisted from Queensland in September, 1914. He wanted to go with the first contingent, but left with the second, and arrived in Cairo on January 27, 1915. He was in the recent fine advance and it was in the latest big battle that he was fatally wounded. His brother, Albert, is with the Expeditionary Force in France.
