29 Aug 1918: Honoured Military Medal, German Spring Offensive 1918, For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty during a counter attack by 34th Battalion A.I.F. on the [HARCELCAVE?] - ANDERCOURT line on 30th March, 1918. This man was No. 1 on a Lewis Gun. During the assault he was shot through the left forearm, but continued to go forward and got his gun into action doing excellent work and inflicting many casualties on the enemy as they were driven from their trench. He stopped with his gun until the situation became quiet, when he was ordered by his platoon officer to go back for treatment. His gallant action and devotion to duty greatly inspired his comrades.
