Military Medal
'East of PERONNE on 18th/19th September, 1918. for gallantry and devotion to duty as Lewis Gunner. he took charge of the section after the Section Commander had become a casualty and by splendid handling he did great service in keeping down enemy fire and allowing his company to advance. He afterwards pushed the gun out in front and covered the consolidation. His work was of the greatest value.'
