Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Military Medal

'These men [WALTON, 9325 H.A. TRESEDER, 9324 W. SWADLING] on the 2nd September in the neighbourhood of PERONNE, carried wounded throughout the whole day through heavy machine gun and shell fire from R.A.P. to Relay Posts. They also voluntarily carried many cases to R.A.P. from PERONNE itself under heavy fire. On the night September 3rd/4th they carried continuously under heavy H.E. and Gas Shell fire. Their work for the whole period was characterised by the greatest self sacrifice and courage.'
