Biography contributed by Ross Martin

Reuben was born in New Zealand in 1873 and worked as a goldminer prior to joining the Salvation Army in Australia as an Officer.

He served at Berringa, Trentham and Ballarat before transferring to Adelaide, SA where he worked at the Beaumont Mens Home.

He enlisted in Adelaide on 15/9/1917 and left Australia (Sydney) on 17/7/1918 as part of the Medical Corps.

He arrived in the UK too late to serve in France, and served in a military hospital at Sutton Very, Wiltshire, UK.

Reuben married to Elizabeth while in the UK, and retired from the Salvation Army when they returned to Australia. After living in WA at Kalgoolie and Fremantle they returned to Victoria and lived in the Camberwell area.

Reuben died in 1954.
