STUDLEY ORGAN

Studley Organ Reg. No. 4186 was born in Cheltenham, Victoria in 1891. He was the son of George Organ and Mrs Mary Organ of Cheltenham, Victoria. His educated was received at Heatherton State School, Victoria. Prior to enlisting, on 24th August 1915, he was employed as a gardener in Paradise, South Australia.
As a member of the 27th Battalion, 10th reinforcement, he embarked from Adelaide, on the RMS Mongolia, on the 9th of March 1916. Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant, he fought on the western front at Passchendaele, Belgium. It was during the battle of Poelcappelle, on the 9th of October 1917, that he was killed in action. The place of his death was called Broodseinde Ridge. He has no known burial place, and he is memorialised on The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial (Panel 23), Belgium.
At the time of his death he was 26 years of age.
