ELMES. — November 16, 1941, as result of accident, JOHN FREDERICK ELMES, of Hammer's-road, Northmead, loved husband of Sheila Elmes, and dear father of Robert, Brian, and John; also dear brothor of Rick, of Essex, England, and Olive, of Dulwich Hill ; aged 41 years. — R.I.P.
DEATH OF J. F. ELMES
KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT
John Frederick Elmes (41), of Hammer's-road, Northmead was killed instantly in a car accicent at the intersection of Church and Dunlop Streets, Parramatta North, on Sunday. A returned soldier, Mr. Elmes was at the Diggers' re-union at Parramatta on Saturday night. He was recently elected publicity officer of the Parramatta Mayoral Patriotic Fund. He leaves a widow and three sons. The funeral left the parlors of Metcalfe and Morris Pty. Ltd., Parramatta, on Tuesday morning, for the Catholic Cemetery, Rookwood.
Members of the Pariamatta-Macathur sub-branch, of the R.S.S.A.I.L.A. attended in large numbers, and marched as far as Campbell-street, where they picked up motor vehicles. The coffin was draped with the Union Jack, and members acted as pall bearers.
The Mayor (Alderman Jeffery), Ald. Soames and others represented the Mayoral Patriotic Committee. The President (Mr. G. Williams), Mr. F. Kershaw, and Mr. F. J. Stephen son were among the returned men. The town clerk (Mr. L. N. Brown) was also present.
