Brother of 719 Pte. Hugh Everett Miller (/explore/people/190687) who was killed in France on 01 Sep 1918
"...4224 Private James Hartley Thomas Miller (Hartley Miller), 50th Battalion. A labourer from Oodla Wirra, South Australia, prior to enlistment in the 10th Battalion, he embarked from Adelaide on 11 January 1916 aboard HMAT Borda for Egypt where he was transferred to the 50th Battalion. His new battalion relocated to the Western Front, France, during June 1916. During October 1916 he was evacuated to England suffering from severe influenza and did not rejoin his battalion in France until February 1917. Pte Miller was reported missing in action and later killed in action on 10 June 1917 near Messines, Belgium. He has no known grave and he is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
