Alfred McManus was wounded in action at Pozieres, suffering a gunshot wound to the arm, and was eventually sent home on the instructions of General Birdwood for family reasons in June of 1918, after it was discovered that his two younger brothers had already been killed.
His two brothers were died on the same day at Fromelles. McManus, 3831 Pte. Patrick John, 60th Bn. AIF. Killed in action 19th July, 1916. Age 24.
