Sapper Mathieson, 2nd Coy., Tunnelling Companies Reinforcements left a widow, Mrs M Mathieson, Carrington Street, West Wallsend, New South Wales.

Lochalsh is one of the ferry ports serving the Isle of Skye; there is a Donald Matheson shown on the Lochalsh War memorial-this could be 3614 Donald Matheson [https://vwma.org.au/explore/people/322683] who was born on Skye, survived the Great War and  returned to Australia 9 February 1919, but although some war memorials show soldiers who survived, it is more likely to be Donald Ross Mathieson.
