Frank Wood's war service - a work-in-progress.
Private Frank Wood rose to the level of sergeant during his service, but reverted to a lowly Private at the time of his demobilisation. As yet, the reason for this rise and fall is unknown. He was wounded three times - twice within a fortnight and spent some time recuperating in the UK. His wife tried to determine the nature and extent of his injuries at the time, but no details were forthcoming.
For many years, he retained the shell fragment (or bullet) that, on another occasion, pierced the tent and his clothing and came close to ending his life. He volunteered for service again in World War 2.
