Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Henry Ford served on Gallipoli from the 4 September 1915 until the evacuation. He was promoted to Corporal during this time, at 20 years of age. He was reported missing at Pozieres on 29 July 1916 and several men reported they were close to him when he was killed by machine gun fire in the darkness of that night. It would be 12 months before his death was confirmed.

His older brother, 862 Pte. Thomas James Ford 25th Battalion AIF, was also reported missing at Flers, 4 months later on 14 November 1916, aged 23.

The two brothers were both declared as killed in action by Courts of Enquiries during August 1917, the sad news a terrible double blow to their widowed mother, Mrs. Christina Ford of Townsville, Queensland.
