Albert Walter Paish
Albert is a cousin (twice removed). The following is drawn from family history.
He was born in Sussex in 1880. He served in the Cape Medical Staff Corps in the Boer war for a year and seven months. He returned to England and married Susan Elizabeth Lloyd in 1903. They had two children in England, Albert George 1905 and Alice Georgina in 1907. They emigrated to South Australia in 1909, and a third child Cyril Laurence was born in 1913. In 1914 the family was living in Pt Pirie West. Albert enlisted 12 Sept 1914, and was wounded at Gallipoli. His wife was told he was "slightly wounded", but he died after evacuation to Malta on 12 July 1915.
His eldest son left home after Susan re-married in 1923 and lived for most of his life in the Northern Territory as "Joe Young". He was famous for losing the lease of the Katherine pub in a game of darts.
