Stanley Roy Angel enlisted in WW1 and WW2. His son, Colin Roy Angel also served in WW2

Stanley Roy Angel, born 6 March 1893 at Whitwarta, South Australia. He was the son of Joseph James Angel & Mary Lambert.

At the age of 24 years, he enlisted on 10 March 1917 at Balaklava and joined the 9th light horse. Occupation, farmer, single, height 5 feet 8 inches, weight 156 lbs, fair complexion, grey eyes and brown hair. Religion denomination: Methodist. Rank: trooper
Unit 28/9 Light Horse, B Company Mitcham. Unit embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT “Commonwealth” on 2 November 1917, arriving at Suez on 10 December, from where he marched on to Moascar the same day. In May 1918 he was transferred from the 3rd Light Horse to the 9th Light Horse. He remained in the Middle East. Returned to Australia 10 July 1919 and discharged 3 September 1919.

Stan married Ivy Florence Smith on the 10 March 1920 at the Methodist Church, Balaklava.

At the age of 49 years, Stan enlisted for WW2 service. Service No. S73619. He enlisted 30 April 1942 at Balaklava. Date of discharge 12 October 1945, posting at discharge 10 Battalion volunteer Defence Corp.

By June 1969 he had retired from the farm and living in Balaklava.

He died 6 August 1973 age 80 and buried in Balaklava.
