John Alfred James Griffin
His name was Griffin not Griffen, he was born on the 24th August 1897 the oldest son of Alfred James Griffin and Emily Maria Coppins. I am Betty Aslin nee Griffin and he once told me that my father, his youngest brother who was born while he was at the war was to his knowledge a baby sister born in the end of August as all mail was censored so I was the baby sister he expected back then as I was born on his birthday where as my father was born on the 4th August 1917. He said that all mail came with black or red lines though anything that the Army and /or Red Cross thought that the Germans might be able to use to make them give up any information they might have should they be caught.
