George Mico Ross was the son of The Rev. Charles Stuart Ross and Jane Ross, and husband of Emily Eliza Charlotte Ross, of Orange Grove, Camberwell, Victoria. He enlisted as a farmer from Western Australia at 39 years of age.
His two younger brothers both died during the war, 389 Serjt. James Forbes Ross 6th Battalion AIF was killed in action at the Gallipoli landing on 25 April 1915, aged 27 and 2865 Pte. Henry Hassal Ross 51st Battalion AIF died of wounds 17 July 1917, aged 38.
