William Barron was born at Leith, Scotland.  He arrived  at Fremantle January 1913 aged 22 with his brother Charles and sister Margaret on “Gothic”.  He enrolled in A.I.F WW1 twice.  Firstly on 31 March 1916 when aged 25 years 4 months, address 42 Edward Street East Perth; gave father as William Barron deceased and his mother as Worthley Moore Baird Laidlaw Barron 19 Drummond Street Edinburgh.  It shows he had been apprenticed 3 1/2 years in Edinburgh as a Plumber.  While at Blackboy Hill Camp, on duty, wrestling with another man he broke his right leg and jammed his foot.  This led to 5 months in hospital and the amputation of two deformed twisted toes on both feet. He was discharged medically unfit. However he reenlisted 24 March 1917, service no. 1921 with rank of Sapper in 3rd Railway Corps. named his sister Margaret Barron of 42 Edward Street East Perth as his next of kin.
