John James McLACHLAN was born in Burrumbeet, Victoria in 1889

His parents were Neil McLACHLAN & Mary Jane GRIFFITHS

He enlisted in Melbourne on 1st February, 1916 & embarked with the 22nd Infantry Battalion, 12th reinforcements on 4th April, 1916 on the ship HMAT Euripides

John was Killed in Action in France due to an exploding shell - no known grave 

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Villers Bretonneux Memorial

His brother Lieutenant Neil McLACHLAN (SN3878) also served in WW1 and was Killed in Action on 10th August, 1918 - he was awarded the Military Cross
