George Henry Portch NOTT was born in Bristol, England in 1887
His parents were Samuel William NOTT & Lillian PORTCH
He married Ellen Ann VAUGHAN in Queensland on 10th August, 1909 & had 4 known children, John Henry, George William Portch, Lillian Margaret & Daisy Violet - Ellen died on 4th November, 1915 less than a month after Daisys birth leaving George a widower with 4 young children
He enlisted in Brisbane on 1st March, 1916 and embarked from Sydney with the 41st Infantry Battalion , A Company on the HMAT Demosthenes
He returned to Australia in 1917 on the ship Runic suffering from Illness and was discharged on 6th April, 1918
George died in Queensland on 7th May, 1918 from Illness and is buried in the Toowong (Brisbane General Cemetery )
